Awareness Through Movement lessons.

The Feldenkrais® Method of somatic education

The Feldenkrais Method® is an innovative system of neuromuscular re-education through somatic awareness. Using subtle movement and heightened awareness, we can differentiate the components of our habitual behaviors.

Learning and change become possible through mindful attention, curiosity, and playful experimentation, re-establishing connections between the sensorimotor cortex and the nervous system. Focusing on developmentally-based patterns of behavior, we can rediscover movement range and ease.

FELDENKRAIS RESOURCES

The Feldenkrais Method is remarkable among movement modalities because of the focus on neuroplasticity. Each somatic awareness lesson evokes curiousity and calm through mindful and playful attention to sensations and movements.

By practicing the Feldenkrais Method, we:
  • rediscover what we learned as infants about moving,
  • experience the benefits of directing attention and reducing effort, and
  • understand how to become our own best teacher.
