The Feldenkrais® Method of somatic education

The Feldenkrais Method® is an innovative system of neuromuscular re-education.  By better organizing our mind-body connection through somatic awareness, The Feldenkrais Method® can help expand our options for moving and living more fully, efficiently, creatively and comfortably.

Using subtle movement and heightened awareness, students break down habitual behaviors into smaller, more subtle component parts.

Learning and change become possible through mindful attention, curiosity, and playful experimentation thus re-establishing connections between sensorimotor cortex and nervous system. (Connections that may have been disturbed through habitual misuse, tension, or injury). 
​Focusing on developmentally-based patterns of behavior, students can rediscover movement range and ease.

With greater movement efficiency, students enhance their potential to excel, whether in high performance activities such as in sports and the arts or simply living more fully.

group classes

​In Awareness Through Movement (ATM) classes, students are verbally guided through slow movement lessons that heighten awareness of how we move. Each ATM explores a different movement sequence designed to evoke curiosity and clarify self-image for greater ease and efficiency.  
​

​Awareness Through Movement classes are gentle enough for all ability levels and challenging enough for all who seek greater sensorimotor integration and a heightened sense of well-being.

Functional Integration®
individual sessions

Individual hands-on lessons with a Feldenkrais practitioner are called Functional Integration (FI) sessions. In FI, the student is guided to integrate functional movement patterns in more fully organized ways leading to:
  • deepened sense of body awareness,
  • expanded movement range, ease, flexibility, and comfort,
  • identified habitual movement patterns and more choices,
  • addressing of specific movement challenges, and
  • increased personal well-being.
